What is the Margolis Cup?

The 2nd Annual Margolis Cup was a tremendous gathering of college talent. More importantly, Uncommon Fit raised approximately 7k towards the awareness of Mary's Place by the Sea, a NJ based organization that supports women with Cancer.

Special thanks to former US-U19 player Ralph D'Agostino, who helped to host the Margolis Cup aimed at Collegiate and Post-Collegiate Men's lacrosse players. 2013 was the 2nd year Uncommon Fit ran the tournament in Flemington, NJ and it again was a great success. Games were played from 8am-11pm every 30 minutes on Saturday, and  then on Sunday playoffs consumed both the highest and lowest ranking teams.  Some teams that were ranked low decided to forfeit on Sunday and may not be invited back in 2014.

The Margolis Cup is created by two parts; 1 part charity and 2 great lacrosse - Ralph created the concept for the tournament in 2012 while trying to come up with a way to make a bigger impact for fellow New Jersey residents recently affected by Hurricane Sandy. I and Uncommon Fit had been helping in Keansburg directly after the massive flooding and damage.

Lacrosse is described by many as the medicine game, and by creating a high level tournament from the wide pool of NJ post-high school players both Ralph, myself, and Uncommon Fit saw an opportunity to help and grow our game.  At the same time, we want to provided collegiate players a good place to 'get some run in' while home for the holidays. Two birds, one stone – Great Lacrosse – Giving Back to the Community! Many of the games, including the Bridgewater vs Summit championship from the event can be found on Access Lacrosse's website.

Please view the website Mary's Place by the Sea if you have any loved ones afflicted with Cancer we encourage you to entertain a conversation with these lovely and caring people at Mary’s Place.
