UcFit was born in August of 2010 in central New Jersey. With a few thousand dollars, some creativity, hard work and the support of the people around us we've grown our baby. Today is a day to remember as we brought in samples for our new partner, 4point4, an organization that has done uniforms for the US Women's Volleyball team, and that is partnered with NBA greats Larry Johnson and Bill Walton to spread their philosophy based around an awesome give-back model. We are "powering" their sublimated uniform development in all sports with Boys and Girls Basketball, Soccer and, of course, Lacrosse going first. I had the pleasure of working out of their office in Manhattan, in the Fashion District, today. It is incredible to know that we have built something that has carried us this far; I never imagined sitting where I am to type this blog back when we began. So much for teaching Latin, ;), apparently there is a career here!

A few of the UcFit Crew members were pretty lucky to have the chance to compete for and win the 2013 Vail Shootout Masters Division with Team Jagermesiter last summer. It was an awesome event and the first time we played with the Jager squad. We again won a championship together this fall at the Revolution in Randolph, NJ. For both tournaments we had the same goalie, Anthony Katagas, an awesome goalie and overall individual. Anthony was not only nominated for best beard of 2013...in the world!...but also the movie he produced, 12 Years a Slave, won the 2014 Academy Award for Best Picture and it won the Golden Globe in the same catagory! CONGRATS, ANTHONY! We are very proud to be your teammates and sincerely hope all the excitement hasn't cut in on your goalie training...we have a game in Connecticut in two weeks buddy, you better be ready!
Anthony sent us his selfie from the seats! Then he went to get his award!!
Katagas in net in the Vail Shoutout against Team Hulu.
4x Champs! UcFit's Brian Dower is in the top row 5th in from right next to Katagas. PJ Martin (me) bottom right, two in. My beard was no match for #thebeardedgreek.

Coming up playing HS lax in the late 90s in NJ, it was clear then that the game was very centered on the hot beds. I was originally born in Maine at the Augusta State Hospital (circa 1982), and except for Bridgeton Academy there wasn't a ton of ball being played all the way up there either. I'm still not well informed on the status of the sport in Maine but recently through Instagram I met Chris from @MainelyMesh, a Maine-based lacrosse stringing company headed by a young guy currently playing at Haverford College. Great guy, but what's even cooler is he sent me a dope t-shirt featuring both lax and my birth state! I may not have spent a long time living in Maine (birth until 2 yrs old), but my mother keeps me proud of it and getting to represent even in a small way makes the shirt special to me.
Mainely Mesh T and a cheesin' Moose - also from Maine.

But this weekend, I made the commitment and had a cathartic lacrosse experience in my hometown hanging with Tri-State Lacrosse during their youth league play-offs at the Peddie School in Hightstown, New Jersey.
Mini-laxer from SJ powerhouse, Moorestown's, 3rd/4th grade team!
Always a pleasure to have the chance to take the day and dedicate it to lacrosse and the young players learning the game. The day turned out to be unique for me because I got to connect a #GrowtheGame moment that couldn't have been more personal and exciting for me.
Watching my NJ hometown youth club team , East Windsor, defeat several very strong groups of 8th graders to win the championship in a 20+ year old league that is a staple in the lives of a majority of NJ lacrosse players was incredible. I almost missed out on lacrosse entirely in my life but thanks to my parents, I was given the opportunity to go to a local private school, Peddie, where I first picked up a stick in the 8th grade. Had I gone to the local public school, Hightstown High, lacrosse would never have been a part of my life as it did not exist in my blue-collar town - except on campus at Peddie. Hightstown High now has a team and it's coincidentally coached by a good friend of mine - Shout to Coach DeLaurentis. To see my town not only grow a youth and high school program but quickly build the players to a level where they are competing against top teams in their age grouping is very special to me! I volunteer a few times a year for the youth and high school programs and also have coached several of the players on summer travel teams; there is nothing more I can say other than that I am proud. Very proud to be from East Windsor and to see lacrosse getting a footing in a community that has young athletes that deserve the opportunities for college assistance that lacrosse can provide.
Cheers to my boys from the East side!
East Windsor lacrosse players - Sean, Johnny 'Finish', Ryan, Luke, myself and Mr. Teman - a long way from the early days of Hot Shot!
In the spirit of all our excitment for the boys from East Windsor and for the 2014 lacrosse season in general - Uncommon Fit would like to extend a 10% discount to any groups/teams looking to put in an order for gear from March 1st until April 1st. Email us at email@example.com and mention promo code EAST WINDSOR to claim the discount on your order.
Looking forward to hearing for y'all!

“I’ll tell you where. Someplace warm. A place where the beer flows like wine. Where beautiful women instinctively flock like salmon of Capistrano. I’m talking about a little place called Aspen.”
The UcFit Crew was in Aspen, Colorado for the 63rd annual Wintersköl celebration the other weekend and took full advantage of all this ritzy Rocky Mountain ski town had to offer! Wintersköl, Aspen's annual "toast to winter," dates back to a quiet January in 1951 when local Aspenites decided to celebrate Aspen's unique Nordic lifestyle with an eclectic weekend of festivities. Today the four day celebration features on-mountain activities, live music, a canine fashion show, WinterFest, fireworks and much more.
The action started on Friday morning when we grabbed our cross country skis and drove to Independence Pass. The Pass is closed annually from roughly Columbus Day to Memorial Day due to the sketchy, narrow road and the heavy snowfall. For about half the year, outdoor enthusiasts can enjoy the picturesque solitude of the Pass uninhibited from motorists. We cross country skiied up the Pass for a few miles and then did an about-face for the faster, more exciting descent. During this time we passed by Kevin Costner’s huge, expansive winter estate which was pretty cool given we're big 'Dances with Wolves' fans. After that we headed back into town for the Soupsköl competition. All of the local restaurants compete against each other to determine who has the tastiest soup by giving out free samples and letting the people decide. Lots of different varieties, delicious and loads of fun! My favorite was the elk wonton drop soup! That night we saw American Hustle showing at the local theatre and later sat down for some good food at Mezaluna. After dinner we capped the night off by checking out the ice-sculpture competition, while all around us the town was glowing from the holiday lights and fluffy, soft snow falling at our feet.
The next day we grabbed our skis and snowboards and headed to Aspen Mountain for our first day of the season. It was a beautiful, sunny blue-bird day on the slopes! It had snowed a few inches the prior night so the conditions were great. Our heads kept toasty under the Uncommon Fit Yeti Beanie and all our snacks and supplies stowed into the UcFit backpack, you could say we were 'LOADED FOR BEAR!'
I must say that there is not a single unattractive person in the entire town it seems and I could’ve sworn I rode past Mary Swanson. One of the cool things about this mountain is how incredibly close the gondola and lifts are to the center of the town. It’s literally only 500 feet or so from the road. Another cool thing were the suped-up gondolas they were spinning. Some of the gondolas have solar panels on them and an entertainment system built inside where you can literally plug your smartphone or ipod into the docking station and suddenly you’ve got your own gondola party! We capped our day on the mountain with some après ski cocktails at the lodge bar below. That night we ate a fantastic dinner at BB’s Kitchen and watched the fireworks display from the mountain on the restaurant's rooftop.
The whole weekend there we felt the buzz surrounding us for the return of X-Games Aspen and Denver Broncos playoff football. We left on Sunday morning with joy in our hearts and smiles on our faces, determined to return to this magical place again soon. Live to the fullest of your potential and always Do What UcFit!
For all you ‘Dumb and Dumber’ fans out there like us, the sequel is set to hit theatres in November with the original cast and they just released this teaser!
Last week we launched our new site and we were so pumped to see the traffic. Thanks to all of you that visited and especially to those of you who gave us feedback! As we did our first foray into monitoring website data, we are going in the right direction! Last week was our 'soft launch' because we wanted to put the site out and continue to offer a place where our partners and fans can learn more about us. Our 'hard launch' will featuring a bunch of products we've been working on, some custom BeSpoked UcFit snapbacks, a solid brand hoodie to represent, and our double-secret stretch zip up hoodie. Let's not forget our new performance socks either, but those won't be around til the beginning of spring ;). It's coming, and between these items and our new site, all of which we built together, we are looking forward to the next six months.

We are so pumped up to get the new website up and out there for everyone! It's been a great three years since we began in 2010 and the UcFit Crew is growing, learning and loving every minute! If you've been following our efforts, you know that this is our third website in as many years, as we have worked, we continuously evolve our identity to find our voice. Now we feel like we've got a simple, clean Homebase where you can cruise around, see what were up to, find out how funny we are and, oh yeah, check out our gear...that's an important part. Explore the site, our goal for the blog is to update you with some cool places to explore, artists to see and listen to as well as any other random brilliance we come across and appreciate. There is so much out there! Check out our social media channels (Instagram, Twitter, Facebook) for standard and not so standard updates, promos and lots of pretty pictures. With the 'soft-launch' of our site (we've got some pretty cool ideas that we're working on for the site still) we have our FIRST PROMO CODE - Blue Steal. A homage to one guy who is 'really, really ridiculously good-looking.' As we continue to update, will be adding in new products regularly along with more photos of happenings. Make sure to see where people #wearucfit all around the world and send us a pic of yourself doing something sweet, in a sweet place, with your sweet UcFit threads. We welcome any and all feedback as we couldn't have gotten to where we are without the support, encouragement and advice from those around us. Uncommon Fit is a team, a community, it's growing and we want you to join in the 'Do what UcFit' crusade.
Thanks for the time and energy to find out more about us!
